Project Overview

For the IFG SAFETY project, our goal was to translate a corporate logo into a clean, professional embroidery design suitable for left-chest placement on cotton garments. Left-chest logos are standard for uniforms, and they require a balance between density and readability.

The design presented a clear challenge: maintaining the integrity of the safety-focused branding while keeping the stitch count efficient. Because the final result was applied to cotton, we had to be mindful of how the fabric reacts during the embroidery process. We avoided excessive density to prevent fabric bunching, ensuring the final logo laid flat against the shirt.

The Digitizing Process

Our team began by analyzing the artwork for pathing. We mapped out the sequence so the machine could move from one element to the next without leaving long jump stitches. This reduces clean-up time for the operator and improves the overall look. At 4190 stitches, we achieved a balance that provides enough coverage to make the colors pop without adding unnecessary weight to the garment.

We paid close attention to the pull compensation. Cotton fabric has some elasticity, so we adjusted the digitizing to account for the fabric pull during the sewing process. This ensures that the outlines align correctly with the filled areas of the logo. By focusing on simple, effective underlay patterns, we built a foundation that keeps the design stable on the cotton surface.

Outcome

The final digitized design hit the size requirements of 3.5 x 2.5 inches perfectly. The embroidery results show crisp edges and clear lettering, which is vital for a company identity. By prioritizing clean paths and proper density, we delivered a file that runs efficiently on commercial equipment, minimizing thread breaks and maximizing production speed.
