Key Considerations

  • Optimized specifically for structured hat front panels.
  • Clean density management to prevent fabric puckering.
  • Balanced pull compensation for consistent registration.
  • Precise pathing for efficient machine run-time.

The Challenge and Execution

The ETX Edge project required careful planning. When digitizing for a Richardson 112, the primary concern is the center seam. Because this cap style is structured, the digitizer must account for the way the fabric pulls toward that center point. If the density is too high or the stitch direction is incorrect, the embroidery will buckle or distort the cap panel.

Our process began with analyzing the artwork to determine the best sequence of operations. We focused on the structural integrity of the lettering and the logo elements. By setting the stitch count to 21,276, we ensured the design is heavy enough to look solid and professional without being so thick that it strains the embroidery machine or creates a stiff, rigid patch on the hat. We avoided 3D effects to keep the profile sleek and aligned with the client’s original vision.

We tested the pathing to ensure the needle enters and exits the fabric in a way that minimizes thread breaks. Every jump stitch was trimmed efficiently to ensure a clean final product. The final result is a crisp, legible logo that sits flat and firm against the cap material, maintaining the shape of the Richardson 112 even after repeated wear.
