Case Study: Shark Logo Sleeve Embroidery Digitizing

This project involved preparing a Shark logo for embroidery on the sleeves of poly/cotton blend polo shirts. Sleeve placement requires specific technical considerations because the embroidery area is limited and the fabric often has a pique texture that can affect needle penetration and thread registration.

The main challenge was maintaining the crisp lines of the shark silhouette within a compact 3-inch width. If a design is too dense, the fabric can pucker; if it is too light, the logo loses its definition. We calculated an optimal density for 2057 stitches, ensuring the design holds its shape without pulling the fabric.

We focused on minimizing jump stitches to ensure the final product looks clean on the inside of the sleeve, which is crucial for garments that come into direct contact with the skin. By adjusting the entry and exit points, we ensured the machine runs efficiently, reducing the risk of thread breaks during the production run.
