Project Case Study: Escaramuza Rosa Front Bodice

The Challenge

Working on the Escaramuza Rosa project presented a unique set of technical requirements. The client needed a highly detailed design covering a large 14×12 inch area on the front bodice. The primary challenge was the fabric: nylon. Nylon is notoriously difficult because it is non-porous and slippery. If the digitizing is not perfectly balanced, the fabric can stretch or pucker, which ruins the final look of a piece this large. With 113,278 stitches, the density had to be managed carefully to ensure the garment would remain wearable while maintaining the sharp edges required by the artwork.

The Digitization Process

Our team began by analyzing the artwork for pull compensation. Because nylon has less ‘grip’ than cotton or polyester, we adjusted the underlay to anchor the design firmly to the fabric. We chose a sequence that worked from the center outward, which is crucial for a design of this size to prevent material shifting. We avoided excessive overlapping of stitch layers to keep the weight down, ensuring the garment wouldn’t feel bulky. Every letter and decorative element in the Escaramuza Rosa design was manually mapped to ensure clean connections and minimal jump stitches. The result was a crisp, high-density embroidery that holds its shape perfectly on the nylon surface.
