The Process

Digitizing for caps presents specific physical challenges that flat items do not. Because the embroidery area on a cap is curved, the design must be anchored properly to prevent shifting during the stitching process. For the Long Plumbing logo, our main goal was to maintain the integrity of the text while fitting the design into a tight 2×2 inch square.

We started by analyzing the logo to determine the best stitch direction. By working from the center outward, we ensured the fabric remained stable on the hoop. We chose a standard flat stitch to keep the profile clean and professional, avoiding unnecessary bulk that could interfere with the cap’s structure. With 9,663 stitches, we balanced density and coverage so the cotton fabric underneath would not show through while ensuring the thread tension remained uniform throughout the run.

The final output is a clean, readable design that stands up to the daily wear expected in the plumbing trade. Our focus was on durability and clarity, ensuring the logo looks professional regardless of the wash cycle or outdoor exposure.
